I keep hearing and seeing rumors flying around the web of a new updated LEGO Ultimate Collector Series(UCS), Millennium Falcon. Most of these rumors had been circling around early in the year but were recently brought up again. I am beginning to get my hopes up, though tempered, as rumors have been prevalent for a re-release or updated version of the UCS Falcon for years.
Three reasons I cling to as hope of this new set coming out are:
- 2017 is the 40th anniversary of Star Wars
- On the Box art of the updated Ultimate Collector Series LEGO Death Star 75159, it shows a silhouette of the Millennium Falcon with a light burst behind it.
3. The consistency of this being rumored, the similarity of the details, all from multiple sources.
Here are the details I have gathered from the rumors. (Edit: I updated the following info in a follow-up post here )
- Release date in October.
- MSRP $600 USD or higher (It could possibly dethrone LEGO set 10189 Taj Mahal 5922 pieces as the largest LEGO set of all time, though with typically higher price per piece count on Star Wars sets this would seem unlikely at $600 ).
- It would come with the pieces and minifigs to switch between an Empire Strikes Back(ESB) Falcon or The Force Awakens(TFA) Falcon.
- 2 different types of radar dishes ( The original Round dish and the rectangular shaped dish from TFA.
- Minifigs: ESB Han & Leia, C3PO, Chewbacca, Rey, Finn, BB8 and TFA Han.
- A detailed interior which was not included in the original LEGO Ultimate Collector Series Millenium Falcon.
As with any rumor, this may turn out to be just that, a rumor. I am hopeful though and will definitely be picking the set up when/if it gets released.
